Ukraine awaits US response to Kiev's latest peace proposal, Zelensky begins diplomatic meetings in Berlin

So far, Ukraine has not received an official response from the United States regarding its latest peace plan proposals, President Volodymyr Zelensky said in a statement to the media.
"There has been no reaction from the US yet. I have received several messages through my negotiating team, but I am receiving all the signals and will be ready for the dialogue, which starts today," Zelensky told reporters.
He added that an active diplomatic day begins in Berlin on Sunday, the Telegraph reports.
"Today we have a Ukrainian-American day in Berlin. I will also meet separately with Chancellor Merz and, most likely, in the evening with some of our European partners," he added.
By now, Zelensky has arrived in Berlin.
"Already in Germany. Today, we plan to meet with the American negotiating team. We are focusing on how to reliably guarantee security for Ukraine, so that the experience of the Budapest Memorandum and Russia's invasion is never repeated. We are counting on constructive negotiations," Zelensky wrote on Telegram.
Recently, US President Donald Trump claimed that Zelensky allegedly did not like the developed peace plan.
According to Trump, Zelensky's negotiators were reportedly pleased with the deal, which he said could not be said for the Ukrainian president himself.
Answering a clarifying question from reporters, Zelensky said: "The plan will not be one that everyone likes. Of course, there are many compromises in one form or another. We sent the latest comments and changes to the plan to the US. The most important thing is that the plan is as fair as possible, first of all for Ukraine, because Russia started the war."
He added that the key is to ensure that the plan is effective and can be "not just a piece of paper, but an important step towards ending the war."
"The plan should be such that after its signing, Russia will not have the opportunity to launch another aggression against the Ukrainian people," Zelensky said.
He revealed that Ukraine currently has no direct dialogue with Russia.
"In the dialogue with the American side, they, if I may say so, represent the Russian side, because they talk about their signals, demands, steps, readiness or unwillingness," Zelensky said.
Meanwhile, Ukraine is discussing with the US not only bilateral relations between Kiev and Washington, but also Ukraine's responses to Russian signals.
“Lidhur me kompromiset me palën ruse… nëse Amerika ushtron presion, nëse partnerët ushtrojnë presion dhe nëse Amerika dëshiron t’i japë fund kësaj lufte - siç po demonstrojnë në një nivel të lartë sot - besoj se rusët duhet të bëjnë kompromis”, shtoi Zelensky.

Zelensky shtoi se edhe nëse përpjekjet aktuale diplomatike dështojnë, Ukraina do të duhet të kërkojë mekanizma të rinj për të arritur paqen.
“Nëse një proces apo një tjetër për zgjidhjen paqësore të kësaj lufte, ose përfundimin e presionit ndaj Rusisë, nuk funksionon, është si të vraposh një maratonë. Ne duhet të mblidhemi, të gjejmë një mënyrë tjetër dhe të bëjmë gjithçka përsëri për t'i dhënë fund kësaj lufte”, u tha ai gazetarëve.
Duke iu përgjigjur një pyetjeje në lidhje me krijimin e mundshëm të një zone të çmilitarizuar në Donbas, Zelensky tha se e konsideron qasjen “të qëndrojmë aty ku qëndrojmë” si opsionin më të drejtë.

Zelensky përshkroi gjithashtu një propozim kompromisi të diskutuar me SHBA-në, sipas të cilit trupat ruse nuk do të hynin në një pjesë të Ukrainës lindore ndërsa forcat ukrainase do të tërhiqeshin.
"Nuk mendoj se kjo është e drejtë, sepse kjo është një zonë ekonomike - kush do ta menaxhojë atë", tha ai.
Duke komentuar idenë e një zone tampon përgjatë vijës së kontaktit, Zelensky pyeti pse çdo tërheqje duhet të zbatohet vetëm për forcat ukrainase.
"Nëse trupat ukrainase tërhiqen pesë ose dhjetë kilometra, atëherë pse trupat ruse nuk tërhiqen gjithashtu thellë në territoret e pushtuara me të njëjtën distancë", tha ai.
He added that the issue remains unresolved and very sensitive.

Speaking about the possibility of elections, Zelensky said he did not want to speculate on whether such signals were coming from the US or Russia, stressing that he was not clinging to power.
"I am not holding my ground. I believe that Ukraine should be ready for any development of events," he said.
Zelensky added that he has asked international partners to help with security arrangements if elections are held, and that lawmakers should prepare options for how they could be held if circumstances allow.
He also expressed gratitude to Poland for its support, emphasizing the importance of maintaining strong bilateral relations and confirming that preparations are being made for a visit to Warsaw.
"For us, good neighborly relations are very important. As for my visit to Poland, the Polish side proposed it on Friday. I think we will not postpone anything. It is very important for us to maintain relations with Poland," Zelensky said.
Recently, commenting on the possible appointment of a new head of the President's Office, Zelensky said that he has held consultations with several candidates.
"They are all ready to help me. No one refused. Everyone is ready to lead my Office," he said, adding that a final decision has not yet been made due to technical considerations. /Telegraph/
