US House of Representatives approves resolution to end war against Iran,

The United States House of Representatives has approved legislation aimed at forcing President Donald Trump to end the conflict with Iran. The measure was approved by 215 votes to 208, thanks to the unified support of Democrats and four Republican representatives.

The bill, sponsored by Democratic Representative Greg Meeks, argues that the use of force against Tehran requires clear congressional authorization.

The resolution refers to the War Powers Act of 1973 and asks Trump to withdraw US forces from hostilities against Iran unless he asks Congress to approve a clear declaration of war. However, since it is a so-called concurrent resolution, the measure must also be approved by the Senate and requires the President's signature, making it highly unlikely to have any concrete effect.

The issue now moves to the Senate, where a similar proposal has already cleared an initial procedural hurdle but has yet to be put to a final vote. If approved by the upper chamber, it would open a new institutional clash between Congress and the White House over the president's war powers.
