Journalist Arbër Hitaj, invited to the Studio24 show on News24 , commented on the debates between the majority and the opposition regarding the progress of Albania's integration process into the European Union, following reports that 9 EU countries have blocked the adoption of the IBAR report on Albania.
According to Hitaj, there is no final decision or blockage of the accession process at this moment. He stressed that the request of member states for more information is a normal procedure within the framework of negotiations.
"Member states have the right to request additional information about the process. We do not have a final decision nor an official position indicating a blockage," he said.
Hitaj underlined that the European Commission's reports have historically been positive for Albania, while the European Parliament has also held supportive positions.
He added that the integration process is complex and is often influenced by the internal dynamics of EU member states themselves, which may change approaches depending on the context and issues they encounter.
In conclusion, the journalist emphasized that there is currently no clarity on the concrete reasons for the requests for additional information, as official positions are lacking, but this does not constitute a signal for the interruption of the integration process.
