Parliament approves criminal amnesty, 466 convicts will be released

The Albanian Parliament has approved with 84 votes in favor the criminal amnesty, which provides for the immediate release of 466 convicted persons.

According to the decision, beneficiaries are persons sentenced to up to 3 years in prison or who have not yet served their sentence, while for women the benefit limit is up to 4 years. Of the beneficiaries, 11 are women and 1 is a minor.

Also, 869 other people will benefit from reduced sentences, including 8 women and 1 minor.

Prime Minister Edi Rama was also present at the session where the law was approved.
