Protesters demand his resignation, Rama: I will never hand over the wheel

Prime Minister Edi Rama has stated that a leader who has a strong purpose, at any cost, goes to his goal to the end, not being influenced by external factors.

At the extended meeting of the Socialist Party Parliamentary Group, Rama said that Albania's membership in the EU cannot be achieved if the government follows the wind.

"When there are moments like this, I have the pleasure of remembering a detail in Homer, 'when Odysseus approaches the Sirens and refuses to listen to them'. On the contrary, he insists on listening to them, because only he who listens to them understands how great the temptation is. He does another thing, he ties himself very tightly to the mast of the ship, not because he does not trust himself, but because he does not negotiate the destination. Because he knows that anything can happen, but the goal is what has led him there and what will lead him to the end. A government has no right to close its ears, but to listen. They have been heard. A government should not blame the algorithm, that is not the case. But there is one thing that a government never does if it is there with a destination. A government never gives up the wheel to the noise. A group of leaders does not give in to the noise.

The more the noise increases, the more a leading group strengthens its own identity, uniting everyone in the name of the destination. A state like the one we are building is not built and a historic mission like the one that fell to us, to make Albania part of the EU, giving Albania the second greatest moment after the connection of Prizren, is not carried to the end, if its government takes direction from where the wind blows and is suggested by the noises, the winds, the sirens and the waves. At any price, a leading group goes to the end", said Rama.
