Arrest of Ilir Shtufi, Greek police react: He was located in a hotel

Greek police have reacted to the arrest of businessman Ilir Shtufi in Thessaloniki, following the operation finalized yesterday by SPAK, which targeted 2 criminal groups involved in cocaine trafficking and money laundering and issued 20 security measures.

Shtufi was active in the construction field, but is suspected of collaborating with this criminal group by laundering money earned from drug trafficking.

Through a statement, the Greek Police announced that Shtufi entered Greece on the same day, June 12, when he was arrested at a hotel.

According to the Greek Police, his arrest was made with the aim of extradition to our country, where he has been declared wanted by order of SPAK.

Arrest of a foreigner in Thessaloniki, internationally wanted for participation in a criminal organization and money laundering

A foreigner was arrested yesterday, June 12, 2026, in Thessaloniki, against whom an international search was underway in a neighboring country for participation in a criminal organization and money laundering.

The arrest was carried out by police officers of the Sub-Directorate for Combating Organized Crime of Northern Greece, following the use of information received through the Hellenic Police Association and the activation of the international police cooperation channels of the International Police Cooperation Directorate of the Hellenic Police Headquarters (INTERPOL).

The investigation revealed that the aforementioned person had entered our country in the early hours of the same day from a border station in Northern Greece. The competent police services were immediately mobilized, within the framework of which he was located in a hotel in Thessaloniki and escorted for further examination.

At the same time, through established procedures of international police cooperation, it was confirmed that an International Red Notice was pending against him by the Authorities of his country for the purpose of his arrest and extradition for criminal offenses related to participation in a structured criminal organization and money laundering, arising, among other things, from drug trafficking cases.

Following information from the competent Thessaloniki Appeals Prosecutor, a temporary arrest warrant was issued against him and he was arrested, in order to follow the established procedures.

The police operation was carried out by police officers of the Department for Combating Organized Violence in Sports, with the assistance of the Department for the Prosecution of Crimes Against Life and Property and the Department of Information and Special Operations of the Sub-Directorate for Combating Organized Crime of Northern Greece.

The arrested person will be brought before the competent criminal prosecution body.
