Bad weather with rain in New Jersey spoils plans? Brazil-Morocco match could be postponed if…

Bad weather has gripped New Jersey, where the match between Brazil and Morocco, for Group 3 of the 2026 World Cup, is scheduled to take place.
Brazilian newspaper O' Globo writes that; "if Brazil expects to face difficulties against Morocco in the premiere of the 2026 World Cup, an additional opponent is starting to show signs that it could enter the field even before the opening whistle. A few hours before the match at MetLife Stadium, in New Jersey, a torrential rain hit the areas near the stadium that will host the battle for Group 3.
The phenomenon has raised concerns that have plagued the tournament's organization since before the event began. In the United States, protocols for outdoor sporting events are particularly strict when there is a risk of lightning. In the United States, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) rules apply. These stipulate that if lightning is detected within eight miles (12.8 km) of a stadium, the match must be stopped.
All players must leave the field and fans must seek shelter indoors. A mandatory 30-minute countdown begins at that point. Each time lightning strikes nearby, the countdown is reset. After the halftime break, fans may return to their seats and players perform a brief warm-up. It should be noted that MetLife Stadium, for the purposes of this event, is also referred to as New York New Jersey Stadium.
A thunderstorm lit up the skies over New York City and New Jersey Thursday night, creating a stunning lightning display visible across the region. The storm brought heavy rain, gusty winds and brief downpours after a day of near-90 degree temperatures and high humidity. More heat… pic.twitter.com/fdDP33xXMK
