Former New York Mayor Eric Adams receives Albanian passport

Former New York Mayor Eric Adams has been issued an Albanian passport.

This decision was approved through a decree by the President of the Republic, Bajram Begaj, published in the Official Gazette.

No additional information has been made public regarding the reasons or procedures that led to the granting of citizenship. According to the decree, the Albanian passport was granted to Adams at his request.

He had previously visited Albania in October 2025.

During his time as mayor of New York, Adams often expressed appreciation and sympathy for Albania and Albanians.
