The Board sets new fuel prices, diesel is sold from today at 183 lek and gasoline at 170 lek

The Transparency Board set new fuel prices this Saturday, reflecting a significant stabilization of the market, after days when oil and gasoline were traded at over 200 lek per liter.
- The retail price of the gasoil by-product of the SSH EN 590 standard should be no more than 183 lek/liter , while the wholesale price should be no more than 171 lek/liter.
- The retail price of the SSH EN standard gasoline by-product should be no more than 170 lek/liter , while the wholesale price should be no more than 158 lek/liter.
Referring to the announcement, it is hereby announced that the prices set by the Board will enter into force today, the 13th, at 2:00 p.m. and will be valid until the next board meeting where the changes in sales prices will be reflected.
"We draw the attention of every operator of wholesale and retail sales of petroleum by-products to the obligation to implement this decision. In case of violations found by various operators, the suspension of activity will be decided," the announcement states.
The Ministry of Economy and Innovation, together with the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, emphasize that they are committed to protecting the interests of Albanian consumers and preserving the principles of fair competition in the market.
EXPLANATION: Referring to Normative Act No. 1, Date 3.4.2026 “On an addition to Law No. 61/2012, “On excise duties in the Republic of Albania,” as amended, which provides that if the retail price for diesel is higher than 220 lek/liter, or for gasoline is higher than 200 lek/liter, the 80% excise duty level shall be applied. Based on the application of the methodology for calculating the retail price ceiling, the prices are below the limit of Normative Act No. 1, date 3.4.2026, and consequently the excise duty level shall be applied in full, 100%.
Gasoline for fishing - the selling price of gasoline for fishing, referred to Law 9975, dated 28.07.2008 "On National Taxes", in Article 9 "Exemptions from the payment of national taxes", point 6 it is provided: ... "Fishing vessels are exempt from the payment of turnover tax and carbon tax.
Also, referring to Article 10, point 3 letter “d” of Law 61/2012 “On excise duties in the Republic of Albania”, the exemption from excise duties of fuel for fishing vessels is foreseen, in the quantities, conditions and criteria determined in the Council of Ministers. Referring to the methodology determined in the normative act, the selling price of diesel for fishing results in 88 lek.
