How SPAK revealed the true face of Rama's government, with the seizure of

The scandal that erupted around the former director of the National Anti-Corruption Agency (AKSHI) is no longer just a corruption affair, but a strong alarm about state capture. When SPAK reveals staggering wealth with villas, yachts and millions of euros in bank accounts and bottles of wine, any propaganda about "honesty" and "simplicity" collapses.

This Tuesday, the Special Prosecution Office (SPAK) announced that it has seized at least 52 properties, bank accounts and other assets with a combined value of 40 million euros, belonging to six people under investigation in the "AKSHI" file. According to the official SPAK announcement, 29 properties have been seized from the businessman with the initials EA alone, including apartments, villas and land in well-known areas in Tirana and Durrës, several bank accounts and a company. In Tirana alone, 7 forest-type properties and 1 and 2-story buildings in them in the Petrela area have been seized, a plot of land in Lundër, as well as 6 apartments and 7 garages. He has also had several assets seized in Durrës, including land, a building and an apartment. Another plot of land and a building on the Vlora coast, in Gjilekë, a Land Rover Defender 2023 vehicle and three bank accounts. BKH agents and the State Police also raided the properties of another businessman EB, investigated by SPAK for links to the AKSHI file, where they seized 10 assets and several of his bank accounts. Among them, land and buildings in Vlora, Tirana, and Golem, businesses, a luxury yacht, other vehicles, as well as all bank accounts in his name and those of his subjects. Among the seized assets are 5 real estate properties (including a 73 square meter apartment), a Volkswagen car, and several bank accounts of the former director of the National Agency for the Information Society (AKSHI), MK. Monetary values were also seized in the bank accounts of three other businessmen, SPAK says. SPAK's preliminary investigations include several criminal offenses, such as illegal competition with violence, illegal deprivation of liberty, violation of equality in public tenders, passive corruption of public officials, participation in a structured criminal group and laundering of the proceeds of a criminal offense. However, we clarify that every person is presumed innocent until proven guilty by a final court decision.
But as we see this super action of SPAK, the claim that the former director of AKSHI lived in rent and without a car now sounds like an open deception towards citizens who are fighting for survival. What is more serious is that Prime Minister Edi Rama not only remained silent, but became a guarantor for figures like her (the former director of AKSHI) who today appear immersed in unjustified luxury. "She is in a security measure in a rented house because she was previously in the house of her parents during communism, whom I have known for 20 years who works without hours and who has led this epochal transformation. She is the main protagonist of digitalization", declared Prime Minister Rama on December 30, 2025 during a media conference. However, this statement made by Prime Minister Rama is no longer simply a moral responsibility, but a serious political stain that demands accountability. A government that protects suspects of corruption risks being perceived as part of the same network of interests. When public leaders are suspected of hiding gigantic wealth, the question arises: who really controls the state?
This reality feeds the belief that corruption is not the exception, but the rule of the system. Albania is sliding towards a model where power and wealth are concentrated in the hands of a minority linked to dark interests. Instead of a legal state, the impression is created of a “ghetto” where ordinary citizens are defenseless in the face of abuse, organized crime and corruption. So, Mr. Prime Minister, now that SPAK is talking about hidden wealth, do you feel the obligation to take responsibility? Did you know that your associates were enriching themselves in a suspicious manner, while the public was being served a completely different reality? If yes, then the responsibility is even more serious; if not, then suspicion arises of a lack of control over governance. Enough with word games and excuses that do not convince anyone. This is the moment to show political responsibility and to face the consequences of these developments.
