Accident resulting in the death of 2 minors, safety expert: There was no braking at all, the impact was direct

Safety expert, Fajton Softa, has commented on the serious incident that shocked the entire public opinion, where a vehicle ran over 3 children, causing the death of 2 of the minors. The incident occurred in the former Kënetë area in Durrës.
Softa, in a conversation with Megi Latif for the 'Lunch Program' on News24, claimed that an examination of the scene shows that the driver of the vehicle did not brake, while adding that the impact was direct.
"The number of accidents has decreased, but there has been an increase in mortality. We had 238 deaths in 2025. This is due to high speed, and a direct hit, where he hit the front and a pole. He did not make any braking maneuver. He was fortunately hit by a BMW, which stopped the vehicle. The age was optimal for having responsibility, but the driver was problematic due to speed. He was like a late teenager. Residents have often signaled the driver in question. The road is wide, but the sidewalks are small. Although there are speed limits, it remains a concern for residents. If that person's license had been revoked, this event would not have happened today. This is a new road. I went near the school. The area gives you the opportunity to walk because of the road. There are no cameras and patrols there, so there are facilities for these people. The structure for deeper control must be reawakened. On small roads, there must be changes and speed limits should be imposed," Softa said.
