A tragedy occurred today in neighborhood 15 of Durrës, where two children were fatally hit by a car, while another minor is in critical condition.
Witnesses have told Top Channel the moments of horror at the scene.
"The state is there to issue fines. Patrols issue fines on highways, they don't come here to check neighborhoods. Who turns these people back anymore?"
"The state fines when it shouldn't be fined, not those who are at fault. They were playing cards on the sidewalk," said one of the witnesses.
"They were the kids from our neighborhood. The driver ran away. I've never seen anything like this in my life. Three kids," says another.
"It doesn't get any worse than that. A huge tragedy. The state must take immediate action. We all stay up all night. This driver has always done this," said a resident of the area.
"No one has come to this area. No one answers our phone. We even sent them the video."
"When we get the local police, they say 'get another one.' It's been problematic. We've always told them 'no, no,'" said a neighborhood resident.
"There are many others, people's lives have become like chickens. This is how they will bring Albania into Europe. The children are from the neighborhood," says another witness.
