Two tourists die and a Briton is in serious condition in South Africa, hantavirus suspected

A British tourist is being treated in a serious condition in a South African hospital after being suspected of being infected with hantavirus, while two other people have died in similar circumstances, according to health authorities.
South Africa's Department of Health announced that it is investigating the possibility of an outbreak of the disease, while the British patient is receiving intensive treatment.
According to preliminary data, the first victim was a 70-year-old man who suddenly fell ill during a trip between Ushuaia and the island of St. Helena. He developed symptoms such as fever, headache, abdominal pain and diarrhea and died upon arrival in St. Helena.
The second victim was his wife, a 69-year-old Dutch national. She collapsed at OR Tambo International Airport in South Africa as she was preparing to fly to the Netherlands, and later died at a health centre near Kempton Park.
Authorities are continuing investigations to determine the exact cause of the deaths and whether it is a widespread hantavirus infection.
