Tehran has presented a 14-point proposal to end the war, brokered by Pakistan, as the Trump administration continues to maintain a naval blockade, explore military options and approve large arms packages for allies in the Middle East. US President Donald Trump has hinted that the new proposal is unlikely to be accepted.
According to the semi-official Tasnim news agency, Tehran has submitted a 14-point response to a nine-point US plan for ending the conflict.
The Iranian proposal emphasizes a complete cessation of hostilities, rejecting the idea of a temporary “freeze” or two-month ceasefire, and calls for the resolution of fundamental issues within 30 days. According to Iran, the priority should be the final conclusion of the war, not the extension of a temporary ceasefire.
The Iranian plan includes demands for guarantees against military action, the withdrawal of US forces from areas around Iran, the lifting of the naval blockade and economic sanctions, the unblocking of frozen Iranian assets, the payment of compensation, and the cessation of hostilities on several fronts, including Lebanon. It also proposes a new framework for the functioning of the Strait of Hormuz, a key energy corridor that has remained closed since the conflict began on February 28.
"The ball is in the US court," Iran's Foreign Ministry declared, stressing that the country is ready both to resume negotiations and to return to military operations.
Pakistan has played a central role in mediation, contributing to achieving a ceasefire in early April and organizing talks in Islamabad, with the aim of maintaining this role until the crisis is over.
On the other hand, President Donald Trump's reaction was reserved. Through the Truth Social platform, he declared that he would review the Iranian plan, but added that he finds it difficult to accept. "I can't imagine that it will be acceptable, because they haven't paid enough for what they've done to humanity and the world over the last 47 years," he said.
