Mossad Chief: Our Responsibility to Prevent Iran from Restarting Its Nuclear Program

The head of the Israeli Mossad secret service, David Barnea, stated today that Israel has a responsibility to ensure that Iran never resumes its nuclear program, six months after the days-long armed clash between the two countries.
Speaking at a Mossad event, Barnea said that the idea of building a nuclear bomb continues to exist among the Iranian leadership, despite the severe blows that the Iranian nuclear program suffered during the joint Israeli-American attacks.
"We have a responsibility to ensure that this nuclear program, which was significantly hit in cooperation with the Americans, is never activated again," Barnea said, referring to the bombing of Iranian nuclear facilities during the 12-day war in June.
Israel launched an unprecedented series of strikes against Iran on June 13, killing senior military officials, nuclear scientists, and hundreds of civilians. Iran responded by launching hundreds of missiles and drones at Israel. During the conflict, the United States also bombed nuclear facilities in Iran.
Barnea, whose term as head of Mossad ends in June 2026, expressed strong skepticism toward a diplomatic solution to Tehran's nuclear issue.
"Iran believes it can deceive the international community again and reach a bad deal. We will not allow this," he stressed.
