Albanian cinematography in mourning! Abaz Hoxha passes away

 Albanian cinema is in mourning, as Abaz Hoxha, one of the most important figures in the study and history of this field, passed away today.
Abaz Hoxha dedicated his entire life to the documentation, analysis and promotion of Albanian film, leaving behind a valuable legacy of 23 books and compiling the first Encyclopedia of Albanian Cinematography, a cornerstone for our cultural memory and identity.

For 17 years, he directed the Central State Film Archive and contributed irreplaceably to the preservation and development of this key institution.

Just a few months ago, in December 2025, he was honored with the Order of Skanderbeg, a well-deserved recognition for his extraordinary contribution to Albanian culture.
