The acting Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has traveled to Armenia to participate in the summit of the European Political Community, the Kosovo executive announced.
" In Yerevan, acting Prime Minister Kurti will participate in the summit of the European Political Community and is expected to have high-level meetings with officials and leaders of participating states. He will also participate in the international conference Yerevan Dialogue ," the announcement said.
The eighth summit of the European Political Community is being held on May 4 in Yerevan, Armenia, under the motto “Building the Future: European Unity and Stability.” It is expected to bring together European leaders and heads of international organizations “at a crucial moment for shaping and strengthening Europe’s collective path.”
"It will serve as an inclusive forum for open dialogue, strategic coordination and joint reflection on Europe's priorities, fostering cooperation, mutual understanding and concrete initiatives that support a more sustainable and future-oriented continent," says the website of the summit, which will be held in the Armenian capital.
The host of this year's summit, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, in a message to the guests at this meeting, said that at a time of great transformation in Europe, the European Political Community has emerged as a unique and inclusive platform for dialogue.
"The Yerevan Summit will build on this spirit, bringing together leaders and partners to strengthen cooperation, increase trust and advance a shared vision for a secure, peaceful and united Europe," he said.
According to Pashinyan, a number of key topics will be discussed at the summit, such as hybrid threats and energy.
"Armenia is honored to host this important summit and play an active role in shaping the future of Europe," Pashinyan wrote.
At the summit, the European Union will be represented by the President of the European Council, Antonio Costa, together with the Head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, who will represent the EU. Before Armenia, the host of the European Political Community summit was Denmark, a meeting in which Kosovo was represented by the now former President Vjosa Osmani.
The European Political Community was launched in 2022, the brainchild of French President Emmanuel Macron, following the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, as a kind of intergovernmental forum for political discussions about the future of Europe. At the first summit held in October 2022 in Prague, Macron rejected the notion that it was some kind of replacement for EU membership, reminding leaders in the Western Balkans, who aspire to become part of the European bloc, of this./REL
