Democratic Party MP Gjin Gjoni, invited to the " Studio24 " show, spoke about internal developments in the DP, focusing on the race for party leadership and exclusions from the electoral process.
According to him, the presidential race is a normal process and within the party's statutory rules, while emphasizing that no one has been denied the right to compete, but that every candidate must respect the established frameworks.
"The DP has rules and a statute that clearly defines the boundaries. Two figures who have been excluded from the race have previously been excluded from the party," Gjoni said, referring to internal decisions of the leadership structures.
He also commented on the case of former MP Ervin Salianji, stating that, according to him, individuals who use the DP logo while attacking the party and its leaders cannot be part of a leadership race.
Gjoni said that the 2021 statute also provides for the possibility of factions within the party, describing this as a step that allows different groups to express their political positions.
The MP also focused on the need for opening and reforming the party, acknowledging that the DP has not done everything properly and needs continuous improvement.
"The Democratic Party needs reform and openness. It must also include what is called the 'gray part' of the electorate to become competitive for power," he said.
At the same time, Gjoni emphasized that the internal debate should remain political and not personal, adding that insults do not help create a normal climate for the party leadership race.
