Former DP leader Lulzim Basha has reacted after the passing of former Congressman Eliot Engel.
Basha writes that he had the opportunity to collaborate with him when he was Foreign Minister, describing him as a great friend of Albanians.

It was with deep sorrow that I learned of the passing of a great friend of the Albanian people, Eliot Engel.
I had the privilege of meeting and working with him at key moments for our nation, during my tenure as Secretary of State and beyond. His unwavering commitment to Kosovo’s independence and international recognition, as well as his decisive support for Albania’s NATO membership, will forever remain a valuable part of our shared history.
Eliot Engel was a powerful voice in defense of freedom, democracy, and the rights of Albanians in the Balkans. He was not only a friend of Albania and Kosovo, but a powerful voice in defense of our national interests and aspirations.
With his passing, we lose a valued friend, but his legacy will live long in Albanian-American relations and in our national achievements.
My deepest condolences to the Engel family and the American people.
May he rest in peace.
