Analyst Baton Haxhiu, invited to the show "The Unexposed" on MCN TV, spoke about the tragedy in Durrës, where two children lost their lives and a third was injured.
Haxhiu listed several reasons why these events occur in Albania, such as the tolerance of the authorities, the culture and arrogance of people with luxurious means, the lack of conscience of citizens who do not respect the law, and finally, the usual lamentation of leaders which is followed by oblivion.
"There is a culture of communication on the street, which has a rare socio-psychological background. It has to do with man and the law. I am struggling with four circumstances, or reasons, for how we treat these things. First, the sidewalk, playing on the sidewalk shows that we have a lack of space for play, a lack of infrastructure, and the neighborhood where it is built has this risk that children have the sidewalk as their only place to play. There is also a lack of parental attention, and of course the state that does not create conditions for children to have their own space.
Second, the tolerance of the Highway Code, which in a certain way consciously sees the violation of the law every day, and of course the tolerance is of the blue uniforms, but naturally also of the long-term operation of the strong in expensive cars, who have a certain arrogance on the road.
The latter has been concentrated for a long time and this concentration causes fatal accidents.
The third point, the conscience of our people, who really have no respect for children, the law, the infrastructure. All three of these, we have many cases that do not respect elementary things to be functional in a society, a normal rhythm of life. Then we come to the public part, where the country is shocked, mourns, as usual in public. We have these statements, the President, the Prime Minister, and so on, that really say something within the conscience, but the missing conscience is that the actions are almost few.
"It all ends with news, reactions, condolences, a little debate in the studio and then it turns into oblivion. What do you say after this? Where is the essence of the problem that is repeated to us?", declared Haxhiu.
