Albania, the only one that opened the door to Europe! Switzerland, Poland, Britain and France banned Kanye West's concerts after pro-Nazism comments
Tirana is abuzz these days after the news that the Albanian Government will support a temporary project worth 50 million euros or 50 billion old lek to build a "temporary stadium" for the performance of world-famous artist Kanye West.
It is a structure that will accommodate up to 60 thousand people and will be built in the Kashari area, as on July 11 the singer will perform in front of thousands of followers from Albania and all over Europe, who will come to Tirana.
In our country, the numerous controversies are related to the costs of the temporary project, while in Europe, Kanye West has had all doors closed due to his anti-Semitic comments.
Switzerland, Poland, Britain and France have canceled his concert dates, immediately after strong reactions from their citizens and pro-Jewish groups, who have demanded that Kanye West not perform because of his approach to Nazism.
The American rapper is accused of using "offensive and hateful language" against the Jewish people on several occasions, while also praising the figure of Hitler on several occasions. In December 2022, West also appeared on a podcast hosted by conspiracy theorist Alex Jones and said that the Nazi leader, like every human being, had brought value to the world.
This summer's Wireless Festival has been canceled after lead singer Kanye West was banned from entering the United Kingdom. The government denied permission for West, now known as Ye, to travel to the United Kingdom following strong backlash over his planned performance at the London festival this summer.
In a statement, Wireless Festival said it had been cancelled and that all ticket holders would be refunded. It added that "multiple stakeholders" were consulted before West was booked, "and no concerns were raised at the time."
Kanye West has announced that he will postpone an upcoming concert in France, following reports that France's interior minister is seeking to block the American rapper's performance due to his anti-Semitic comments.
"After much thought and consideration, it is my sole decision to postpone my show in Marseille, France, until further notice," the rapper, legally known as Ye, wrote on X.
A source close to the interior minister, Laurent Nuñez, told Agence France-Presse on Tuesday that he was "very determined" to stop the June 11 concert at Marseille's Velodrome stadium and was considering "all options."
Kanye West's concert in Poland has been canceled, the venue announced, following pressure and government condemnation over a series of anti-Semitic, racist and pro-Nazi comments by the American rapper. He was scheduled to appear at the Silesian Stadium in Chorzów on June 19, his first performance in Poland in 15 years, but the venue said on Friday it would not take place "for formal and legal reasons."
Marta Cienkowska, Poland's minister of culture and heritage, had described the decision to book West as "unacceptable." It comes days after West postponed a concert in France and a week after the United Kingdom barred him from entering the country to headline the Wireless Festival.
In February of last year, West began selling swastika T-shirts, prompting e-commerce platform Shopify to shut down his online store.
Swiss football club FC Basel announced on April 18 that it had canceled a Kanye West concert, becoming the latest European country to ban or postpone performances by the American rapper due to an outcry over his past anti-Semitic comments.
FC Basel, who are responsible for concerts and events taking place at their St. Jakob-Park stadium, told Reuters that after a thorough review of the request for West to perform, they decided that his performance would not take place.
"FCB received a request and reviewed it. However, after a thorough review, we have decided not to proceed with the project, as we cannot, in line with our values, provide a platform for the artist in question within this context," a club spokesman told Reuters.
