Moscow closes all airports due to drone threat from Ukraine
All four airports in the Russian capital Moscow suspended operations today due to the threat of drone attacks from Ukraine.
The airport's press service announced the restrictions in separate statements, adding that flight schedules may be adjusted. It was noted that the restrictions were imposed due to the activation of the "Kover plan", which provides for the complete closure of airspace for all aircraft, with rare exceptions.
The restrictions were announced by the airports "Vnukovo", "Domodedovo", "Zhukovsky" and "Sheremetyevo". In addition, mobile Internet has been disabled in Moscow starting today. Russian authorities announced the restrictions on Monday.
A government statement said the restrictions were imposed in connection with events marking Victory Day in World War II.
The restrictions were tightened after Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reportedly warned during the European Political Community summit in Yerevan on Monday that Ukrainian drones could fly over the parade in Moscow's Red Square on May 9./ AA .
