DP warned of boycott of "Electoral" and "Territorial", Balla: Their emotional decision, they will reflect after eating the turkey

The Chairman of the Parliamentary Group, Taulant Balla, said that the opposition cannot take hostage the two special commissions on Territorial Reform and Electoral Reform.

In a statement to the media, after the end of the Parliamentary Group meeting, Balla invited the opposition to reflect, emphasizing that their decision not to participate was emotional.

Balla stated that the Socialist Party does not accept threats or blackmail: "With the story that we leave, we do not come and vote, they see their work in our work," said the head of the Socialist Party Parliamentary Group.

"The opposition is the first to reflect on the approach we should have in the Albanian parliament. Each of us must obey the interests of Albania before political orders."

We are at a crucial moment regarding EU membership. The aim is to close the process by 2027.

"I want to be clear today with the public regarding our position, a position that I have also made known to my DP colleagues, that there are no conditions, threats, blackmail, or a history of committees or votes in the Albanian Parliament against the SP. With the history that we leave, we do not come and vote, they see their work in our work," said Taulant Balla.

To the DP's threat of boycott, Balla responded as follows: "We will wait for reflection on their part. It is an emotional decision, given the conditions of last week, but I believe that the emotions will pass after the turkey and baklava and in January, with the start of the new session, they will return to work. In case they do not do such a thing. But I say today that they break the agreement not to participate in the commission, we break the agreement to change the majority in both commissions. If they think that they can take the commissions hostage, then we will respect the will of the Albanians. The minority cannot accept the reform."
