"PD, like a headless chicken", former Democrat MP: What I said to Berisha in the office and how they ate me behind my back

Former Democratic Party MP, Edmond Spaho, has commented on the latest political developments in the DP.
Through a post on social media, Spaho responded to those who accuse him of speaking out now about the current state of the DP.
According to him, the current leadership of the Democratic Party "is behaving like a headless chicken", while his criticisms are not related to specific names, but to the principles and ideals on which the DP was built. He underlines that in 35 years of political engagement he has never betrayed and that he has remained loyal to his ideals, even when this has cost him politically.
Among other things, Spahi reveals what he told the leader of the DP, Sali Berisha, " In September 2021, when the Foltorja started, I met with Mr. Berisha in his office, with his request to support the Foltorja. I promised him full support, and also expressed two concerns:
“Are you serious about this movement you are starting?” He replied: YES. Later I realized that the Pulpit was abandoned for interests unrelated to those for which it was created.
I suggested to him not to deal with the Americans, despite the fact that they had fallen on his neck. Let's deal with the party, strengthen it and become an alternative government. He didn't answer me ."
Full reaction:
To my critics!
I see many militants who endlessly insult me on Facebook for the positions I am holding and the criticisms of the DP leadership, which, in my opinion, is behaving like a headless chicken.
It seems that for the militants I am a traitor. However, I want to ask you why you did not call me a traitor:
In September 2021, when was I among the first to line up alongside the Pulpit?
In October 2021, when, together with four other MPs, including Sali Berisha, I was expelled from the DP? Everyone in 2025 was included in the closed list. I was not, and I did not complain.
When I was expelled from Parliament for 50 days, how rarely was anyone else?
When I blew the whistle in protest for 6 hours in the Assembly, trampling on my reputation, because I believed we would overthrow Rama?
When I defended the "non grata" and criticized the American Embassy and Administration, even though I had a reputation as a staunch pro-American?
When every day, together with 5-6 MPs, I went to protest on Hope Street and spoke more than anyone else? Others "of ours" were shy about coming.
When I came second in votes in the primary in the entire parliamentary group and wasn't included in the closed list, and yet I didn't complain?
In 35 years, I have never wavered and have remained loyal not to the names, but to the ideals of the DP.
In September 2021, when the Foltorja started, I met with Mr.
Let's deal with the party, strengthen it and become an alternative to the government. He didn't answer me.
Finally: men are held to their word, especially when they are old. Even worse when they are eaten behind your back. I'm talking about men, not flags.
My criticisms are fair and based on the 13 years of mistakes we have made together. To win, we need a new strategy, dedicated people, and endless work at the grassroots level to build the DP, which today seems doomed.
Today is not the first time I have spoken. Sali Berisha and Flamur Noka have had my thoughts in writing for more than two years. Criticisms against the latter came back to haunt me. I believed that Foltorja was sincere.
