Police did not report how the fatal accident of the fisherman in Durrës was

A serious road accident, which occurred on the evening of June 28, 2025 in the Dajlan Bridge area in Durrës, which resulted in the death of 55-year-old fisherman Arben Byku, was never published in the media and was not reflected in any chronicle or official announcement to the public. Byku was hit by a Range Rover vehicle, driven by 35-year-old Enio Likmeta, and was taken to the Military Hospital in Tirana, where he remained for about three weeks without being identified and without the presence of his family, who were meanwhile searching for him as a missing person.

After his death, his body was taken to the Tirana morgue as an unidentified person, where it remained for weeks, until it was found by chance by family members, about a month after his disappearance.

The family members state that throughout this time they have continuously gone to the Beach Police Station in Durres, the Durres Police Station and the Durres Hospital, where they were assured by police officers that there was no information about Arben Byku and that no such accident had occurred.

Meanwhile, the Judicial Police Officer (OPGJ) Arjan Qesja states that the identification would have been immediate if the Beach Police Station had reported the 55-year-old missing, highlighting the significant lack of coordination between institutions. The investigation has revealed three expert reports with diametrically opposed conclusions regarding the speed of the vehicle at the time of the accident.

The first expert report indicates a speed of around 44 km/h.

The second expertise, signed by two experts, estimates the speed at under 50 km/h, attributing responsibility primarily to the pedestrian.

While the third expertise, conducted by expert Evald Jaho, estimates the speed at around 73–75 km/h, twice the permitted limit of 40 km/h, and concludes that the accident would have been avoided if the vehicle had been traveling at the permitted speed./ Piranjat
