Epstein's prison associate: I've never seen Trump in inappropriate

Ghislaine Maxwell, the convicted associate of the late pedophile Jeffrey Epstein, told Justice Department officials last month that President Trump "never behaved inappropriately with anyone" during the time Epstein and the future president-general were friends.

Maxwell, who is serving a 20-year prison sentence after being convicted in December 2021 of sex trafficking and conspiracy charges, sat for two days in interviews led by Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche in Tallahassee, Florida, last month.

"I've never seen the President in any inappropriate environment in any way," Maxwell-Blanche told the outlet about her interactions with Trump when he was still an associate of Epstein in the 1990s and early 2000s.

The audio and transcripts of the interviews were released on Friday as the Trump administration seeks to quell widespread speculation surrounding Epstein, who was found dead in his Manhattan jail cell on August 10, 2019.

Maxwell, 63, during the interview dismissed almost every conspiracy charge brought against Epstein since his first guilty plea in Florida to a charge of attempted sexual intercourse with a minor, which landed him in prison for 13 months, most of that time on work release.

They included allegations that Epstein had a so-called "client list" of wealthy and influential associates who were either involved in or blackmailed by Epstein to keep quiet about a shadowy sex trafficking ring that exploited girls as young as 14.

Maxwell likened the allegations to a rampage of "a Salem witch trial" against powerful politicians like former President Bill Clinton.

"That narrative that was created and then built upon, and just turned into what - basically this is like a Salem witch trial," she explained.

Maxwell diverged from the official version at one point, saying of Epstein "I don't believe he died by suicide," contradicting the conclusion of a July 6 memo released by the Justice Department and the FBI.

She added that it was "possible" that the 66-year-old had been targeted in his Manhattan prison by others, but did not believe his so-called "blackmail" had now turned into revenge.

"I don't think Epstein had committed such an attack. If it is indeed murder, I believe it was a domestic situation," she claimed.
