Bad weather has affected the municipalities of the Elbasan region since 2:00 p.m. on Saturday afternoon. According to reports from the field, local storms accompanied by strong winds and hail have been recorded in some areas.
For about 20-30 minutes, the city of Elbasan was also engulfed by the storm, causing temporary traffic jams on several road segments.
The high water levels caused flash floods as the sewer system failed to cope with the heavy rainfall. Strong winds also caused damage to ornamental trees along the city's main roads, increasing the risk to pedestrians and vehicles.
Local authorities and emergency services are closely monitoring the situation, while citizens are urged to exercise caution and avoid unnecessary movement during the unstable weather.
