Report on Iran attacks, Trump fires Pentagon intelligence chief

United States Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has dismissed the Pentagon's intelligence chief, several weeks after the White House's harsh reaction to the agency's report on the effectiveness of US strikes on Iran.

US media reports indicate that Lieutenant General Jeffery Kruse will no longer serve as head of the US Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), while two other senior commanders were also dismissed.

In June, President Donald Trump strongly objected to a released DIA report that found that US strikes on Iran had only set back its nuclear program by months. The White House declared the agency's assessment to be completely wrong.
