Meteorite falls in US, 20 million years older than Earth

A meteorite that hit a house in the US on June 26, blowing off its roof, has been found to be older than Earth. Georgia State University completed an analysis of the meteorite, dating it to have formed about 4.56 billion years ago, roughly 20 million years older than our planet.

According to a statement released by the university, this meteorite had a long history before entering the Earth's atmosphere. Scott Harris, a researcher at the university, said: "This meteorite had a long journey before it hit home."

The owners of the home where the meteorite fell are continuing to find its remains in the surrounding area. This discovery is an unexpected reminder to scientists and citizens about the diversity and wonders of the universe.
