EMRI/ Wanted by Spain for participation in a criminal organization and drug cultivation, 40-year-old man with 4 identities arrested

A 40-year-old man from Lezha, internationally wanted by Spanish authorities for participation in a criminal organization, cultivation of narcotic plants and theft of electricity, has been arrested in Albania as a result of a successful operation coordinated with INTERPOL.

The arrested man is Gjergj Gjoka, also known as Gjergj Marku, Gjergj Ruqja and Gjergi Ruqja, 40 years old, born in Lezha.

According to the justice authorities in Castellon de la Plana, Spain, where a security measure of "prison arrest" has been issued against him, the 40-year-old was part of a structured criminal group, with a clear division of roles for the activity of drug cultivation in specially adapted environments.

As a result of the coordination of work and the exchange of information with Spanish partners, through INTERPOL, the services of the Special Operations Force Directorate, within the framework of the operation "Operacionalja 58", located, captured and handcuffed, with the aim of extradition to Spain, the citizen GGjergj Gjoka alias Gjergj Marku alias Gjergj Ruqja alias Gjergi Ruqja, 40 years old, born in Lezha.

The Court of Instruction No. 1 Castellon de la Plana/Spain, in 2025, has imposed the security measure "Arrest in prison", for the criminal offenses "Crimes against public health/Cultivation of narcotic plants", "Participation in a criminal organization" and "Theft of electricity".

This citizen was part of a criminal group, with a clear division of functions among its members, starting from finding premises, renting them, adapting them for drug cultivation and assembling equipment for the purpose of drug cultivation. During the police operation in Spain, two premises adapted for cultivation were found, one in Oropesa and one in Cabanes.

Interpol Tirana is cooperating with Interpol Madrid to finalize the extradition of this citizen.
