Albania is "armored", these are the new advanced vehicles that will become part of the military arsenal

Albania takes an important step in the modernization of the Armed Forces, according to a report by Iveco Defence Vehicles.
Soon, the Armed Forces will receive the first LMV2 armored vehicles, a program funded by the European Union through the European Peace Mechanism and implemented by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AID).
This initiative highlights the growing militarization of the Balkans and the strengthening of Italy-Albania defense relations, marking an important moment in regional security.
The delivery underscores the EU's role in consolidating NATO's southern flank and in equipping Albania with advanced military mobility assets.
What is LMV2?
1- Improved version of the LMV – The LMV2 is the second generation of 4x4 multi-role armored vehicles, developed by Iveco Defence Vehicles, with increased protection and performance compared to the original LMV model.
2- Advanced Protection – The vehicle has a reinforced structure against IEDs, mines and ballistic fire, providing high safety standards for the crew.
3- Capacity and functionality – It can transport 5 to 7 equipped troops (depending on configuration), while remaining suitable for various tactical operations and peacekeeping missions.
4- Performance and mobility – Equipped with a 200 kW (280 hp) engine, with advanced transmission and improved suspension, which allows it to cope with difficult terrain and extreme conditions.
5- International use – The LMV2 has been chosen by several European and NATO armies (e.g. Italy, United Kingdom, Norway), becoming one of the most widespread armored vehicles in Europe.
6- The LMV2 vehicle does not have a unique armament configuration , as it is designed as a multi-role platform. Its armament varies according to the needs of the armies that use it.
-Remotely controlled turret (RCWS – Remote Controlled Weapon Station) where a 7.62 mm or 12.7 mm caliber machine gun can be mounted.
-40 mm automatic grenade launcher, for close and medium range fire support.
-Anti-aircraft or anti-tank systems (can be integrated according to customer requirements, e.g. ATGM missiles).
-Unarmored version – often used only as an armored transport vehicle for troops or logistics.
