On the eve of the May 11 elections, a new scandal has erupted that shows the coordinated efforts of political corruption and organized crime to undermine citizens' trust in the Special Anti-Corruption Structure (SPAK).
Many citizens have reported receiving phone calls with questions of a denigrating nature about the work of SPAK. These questions, with negative tones, have focused only on the entities and political leaders who are in the orbit of SPAK, due to their affairs, while no questions have been asked regarding the political forces or public figures who support SPAK and the fight against corruption.
This manipulation of public opinion raises serious questions: Who is financing this survey? Who is interested in the denigration of an institution like SPAK?
The answer seems clear: High political corruption and organized crime, who feel threatened by the ongoing investigations and files, are the ones trying to create a narrative against justice.
Against this backdrop, it is clear that the May 11 elections are not simply a political contest, but a referendum between justice and impunity.
Either with the corrupt and the political formations that want to destroy SPAK,
or with justice, transparency and those who support the fight against corruption.
In this context, it is vital that citizens are aware of the attempts at manipulation and support the institutions that work for a more honest Albania and the political forces with a clear pro-SPAK platform. The fight against corruption requires the involvement and support of everyone, and SPAK needs the trust of citizens to bring this battle to an end./ Alfapress.al
