The soulless body of Berisha's DP winner!

What happened just a few minutes ago, the re-introduction of the Democratic Party candidates, is shocking evidence that this political force has lost the ability to reflect, to self-reflect, and above all – to win. Instead of being a moment of political renaissance, it turned into a sad picture: a body without a soul. A body that exists, but does not inspire; that speaks, but is no longer heard.

What is dramatically striking is the lack of a meritocratic approach. The DP has chosen to trust again in old figures, some of whom have been worn down not only by time, but also by the compromises they have made with power and with the values that this party claims to represent. Instead of merit, blind obedience to Sali Berisha has been rewarded – an unparalleled political loyalty, which instead of being a virtue, has become the exclusive criterion for selection.

The safe list of deputies lacks figures who have been with the Democrats on the streets, in protests, in political and institutional battles. Individuals with long political experience, with concrete contributions and with a modern vision for the future of the country have been left out. Those who have never asked for privileges, but who have worked for an open DP, for a worthy opposition, have been excluded. This silent exclusion is a form of punishment for all those who dare to think differently within a party that has frozen in time.

On the other hand, political allies – who in most cases no longer even represent themselves – have been placed in safe positions. This is not the spirit of a vibrant and strategic coalition, but an agreement for personal survival. It is a division of boxes, not a union of values.

This is the moment when many democrats ask themselves: “Who are we today?” And the answer is alarming. The DP has remained a formal body, an electoral machine that no longer has its main engine – the democratic spirit. The spirit of fair competition, of representing the grassroots, of involving the new generation, of ideas that challenge the old, not that repeat it.

In politics, it is often not the one with the most names on the list who wins, but the one with the most trust in the hearts of the people. And this trust is not built on clientelism, nostalgia, or loyalty to a single person. It is built on inclusion, spirit, and the courage to change.

Today, the DP is a body without a soul. And a body without a soul cannot be a winner. It can exist, but it cannot lead. It can compete, but it cannot win. And unless a profound shake-up occurs, not only in names, but in mentality, it risks always remaining a shadow of itself that once ignited hope in this country.
