Librazhd's first teacher, Rabie Xhani, passes away at the age of 84

Rabie Isuf Xhani, the first teacher of the village of Gizavesh in the Librazhd district and one of the first women who challenged the reality of the time to become a beacon of knowledge in the rural areas of Librazhd, has passed away at the age of 84.

Born on April 16, 1941 in Librazhd-Katund, Rabia completed her 7-year education in the city of Librazhd, walking for over two hours every day.

In 1959, she married Hyqmet Xhani and settled in the village of Gizavesh, where her dedication to education did not stop.

She successfully completed the Pedagogical School in Elbasan and in 1961 started working as a teacher in the village school, making history as the first local woman teacher in Gizavesh and one of the first in the entire district.

For 30 years, Rabia Xhani remained in her mission with humility and passion, educating dozens of generations who today proudly hold her memory as an exemplary, humane and dedicated teacher. She retired in 1991, but remained a highly respected figure in the local community for decades.
