Folk costumes at weddings, a tradition that is gaining ground every day - RTSH

Year after year, weddings in Kukës are experiencing a noticeable return to tradition, with more and more brides choosing to dress in folk costumes. This new trend is bringing the area's craftsmanship and cultural heritage into the spotlight.
According to renowned dressmaker Kimete Toçi, this season the demand for traditional Luma and Has clothing, which are distinguished by their originality and authentic style, has increased significantly.
"It's wedding season, there have been requests. I hope there will be during the school season and it will continue beyond that. People generally like the Lume i Hasit dress, while when school starts, they like the red dresses with eagles, capes, vests ," she said.
She emphasizes that not only older generations, but also young people are showing increased interest in handmade clothing.
“They take men, children and, to a lesser extent, teenagers, women and girls, ” she says.
Luma's clothes are very rich in details and colors. They require a lot of work and dedication, but they are always the favorites at any family celebration, wedding or cultural activity.
Despite the cost and difficulties that the making of an authentic folk costume brings, the artisan women in Kukës do not stop. Traditional clothes are becoming a symbol of pride and cultural identity./RTSH
