
Igor Popovic found guilty, prison sentence replaced with a fine of 3 thousand euros and 2-year deportation from Kosovo

Igor Popovic, assistant director of the so-called “Office for Kosovo” in the Serbian Government, has been convicted by the Basic Court in Pristina for inciting ethnic discord and hatred.
The court found him guilty of a speech given in Rahovec/Orahovac on 18 July 2025, in which he used inflammatory language against ethnic communities in Kosovo. He was sentenced to 6 months in prison, which was replaced by a fine of 3,000 euros and deportation from Kosovo for two years.
Popović was arrested on July 19 at the Brnjak border crossing. The plea agreement between him and the Special Prosecution Office was approved by the court. According to the prosecution, his actions endangered public order and interethnic coexistence.
