Prime Minister Kurti: Political disputes are not resolved by the Constitutional

The acting Prime Minister, Albin Kurti, asked by the media whether he would meet again with other political parties to find cooperation regarding the constitution of the Kosovo Assembly, stated that meetings with other parties to constitute the Kosovo Assembly have resulted in no success, although they were offered two compromises.

During today's inauguration of the hemodialysis service at the Podujeva Municipality Hospital, Kurti said that the Vetëvendosje Movement has completed its steps, while there has been no offer of cooperation from the other side.

Kurti further said that the Constitutional Court's ruling stated that the parties must reach a political agreement together, because the Constitutional Court does not resolve disputes. PDK and LDK have sent cases to the Court.

"We have offered two compromises, the first was on the occasion of the secret ballot, if the first candidate Haxhiu is not elected then we will bring another name and agree on the package that includes the president and vice presidents and return to open voting, we have taken steps and there has been no response from the other side.

When the Constitutional Court, with its preliminary ruling, specifically told us that political agreements must be reached between parliamentary groups because disputes are not resolved by the court, the two main opposition parties immediately sent the case to the Constitutional Court again... We have respected it and I have written letters to meet, but so far we have not had success," Kurti said.

Today, August 8, the temporary measure imposed by the Constitutional Court of Kosovo on the issue of the constitution of the Assembly expires. On July 24, the Constitutional Court said that MPs cannot make any decisions or take any action regarding the formation of the Assembly until August 8.

This was done after this institution is reviewing two cases that are requests from the Democratic Party of Kosovo and the Democratic League of Kosovo, which want clarifications on constitutional issues related to the formation of the ninth Legislature.
