In prison since February/ Veliaj requests the GJKKO to declare the investigations invalid: Justice cannot be selective and unlawful!

The Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj, has filed an official request with the Special Court against Corruption and Organized Crime, through which he requests the declaration of the invalidity and unusability of the investigative acts carried out by the Special Prosecution.
In his request, Veliaj lists all the violations committed by the Special Prosecution Office regarding the investigation against him, and argues all the reasons why the investigations to date should be declared invalid.
Regarding the investigation against him, in the extended request addressed to the Criminal Investigation and Prosecution Service, Mayor Veliaj states that:
* Investigation of the case by a citizen who has never had the legal status of a prosecutor, i.e. a person who has never legally been a prosecutor under Albanian legislation;
* Exercising criminal prosecution by a person in a clear conflict of interest with the subject of the investigation;
* Using a falsified criminal report as a basis for initiating investigations, without any verification of the identity of the informant;
* Carrying out investigative actions without registering criminal proceedings, in order to avoid deadlines, judicial control and legal restrictions;
* Exceeding investigative deadlines by concealing the status of the person under investigation;
* Seizure and use of computer data without a court decision and reading private correspondence in the absence of any legal basis and authorization;
* Violation of the right to effective defense, through the refusal of the necessary time to familiarize oneself with the acts;
* Use of experts dependent on the prosecution itself, in violation of the standards of impartiality;
* "Fractionalization" of the case as a means to violate the right to defense and legal certainty;
Use of the media as an extension of the accusation, through deliberate leaks, manipulation of public opinion and institutional inaction when investigative secrets are leaked to the public.
The 77-page request, which has already been filed with the GJKKO, documents with evidence the violations committed by the Special Prosecution Office, due to which Veliaj requests the invalidity of the investigations conducted against him, and the restoration of the legality, proportionality and impartiality of the investigation.
