Bezos and Sanchez seek $190,000 from her brother, years-long legal battle

Jeff Bezos and his wife, Lauren Sanchez, have filed a lawsuit in California Supreme Court seeking a total of $190,556 from the former journalist's brother, Michael Sanchez, in their multi-year legal battle.

Specifically, they are seeking $182,374 in attorneys' fees and $8,182 in other legal expenses, which they say are related to a successful special motion to dismiss (a legal tool that allows a defendant to ask the court to dismiss a lawsuit they believe is without merit) and an ongoing motion for costs.

The controversy began in 2019, shortly after Bezos' split from his wife MacKenzie Scott, when his affair with Sanchez came to light. The issue escalated after the National Enquirer threatened to publish personal material, with Bezos himself revealing the existence of the controversial photos.

Michael Sanchez denied publishing the “indecent photos” but admitted sharing other information. The New York Times had revealed that there was a confidentiality agreement between Sanchez and American Media regarding information and photos that proved the Bezos-Sanchez relationship.

In 2020, Michael Sanchez sued Bezos for defamation, but a Los Angeles court ruled in the billionaire's favor. In 2021, the Amazon founder won $218,385 in legal fees, but the legal battles continue. Michael Sanchez, for his part, insists on his accusations, calling the couple "liars" and the legal system "corrupt."
