Jeff Bezos in mourning, his mother passes away

Jackie Bezos, the mother of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, has died at the age of 78. The news was confirmed by The Bezos Family Foundation on August 14. Jeff Bezos shared a touching message on social media, revealing that she died after a long battle with Lewy body dementia, a disorder that affects individuals' thinking, movement and behavior.

In his message, Bezos emphasized that his mother was surrounded by love until her final moments, remembering her as a woman who gave everything for her family. “She started being my mother at the age of 17, and it certainly wasn’t easy, but she made it all possible,” he wrote. Jackie Bezos, who was also the co-founder of The Bezos Family Foundation, is survived by her husband Mike Bezos, three children, 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
