Fistfight breaks out in Marseille's dressing room

Jonathan Rowe and Adrien Rabiot have been temporarily suspended from the Marseille first team after a violent altercation in the dressing room, immediately following the 1-0 defeat to Rennes.

According to regional daily "La Provence", Euro U21 winner Rowe is suspected of slapping Rabiot.

The incident occurred around 11:00 p.m., when journalists near the interview area heard loud voices coming from the Marseille locker room.

It all started when Rowe, feeling attacked by comments about his performance in the match, allegedly reacted by hitting the French midfielder.

The situation quickly escalated into a physical confrontation, before coach Roberto De Zerbi, his staff and sporting director Mehdi Benatia intervened to calm the situation.

Marseille started the 2025-2026 season with a disappointing defeat to Stade Rennais, conceding a goal from Ludovic Blas in extra time, despite dominating possession and having an extra player on the field.

The club has not yet announced how long the temporary suspension of the two players will last, while Les Phocéens face Paris FC next Saturday at the Stade Vélodrome.
